"Truth or Dare" Wins at Shockfest!

TRUTH OR DARE WINS AT SHOCKFEST FILM FEST
Jessica Cameron’s New Horror Film Takes Home 4 More Awards

Jessica Cameron’s directorial debut, Truth or Dare won 4 awards at Shockfest Film Festival on Saturday, January 11th. The vicious torture flick had 9 nominations and Cameron herself won Best Director and Best Actress. Co-star Devanny Pinn won Best Supporting Actress, a.k.a “Sexiest Shockfest Sweetheart” and Ryan Kiser’s chilling portrayal of “Derik B. Smith” earned him a Best Actor award.

The Truth or Dare screening attracted many a-listers in the indie horror scene including Big-Ass Spider director Mike Mendez, ColdWater director/writer Dave Parker, Isle of Dogs director Tammi Sutton, and Charles de Lauzirika who produced Blade Runner Final Cut and directed Crave.

Cameron, who is very active on social media, decided to record her Best Director acceptance speech in a POV style at the request of her Twitter followers. The result can be seen below:


Truth or Dare, which Cameron co-wrote and produced with Jonathan Higgins, has now won 13 awards, 3 of which are for “Best Feature.” It can next be seen at the Macabre Faire Film Festival in Long Island, NY on Sunday, January 19th at 5:40pm. Anyone in or around Kansas City, MO will be able to catch Truth or Dare at Panic Film Fest on February 1st at 9:45pm. Truth or Dare will also be screened at two conventions which Cameron will be attending. The Twisted Terror Convention in Sacramento, CA Mar. 29th - 30th and the Marble City Comic Con in Knoxville, TN on April 11th - 13th. Exact screening times and dates are TBD.

When asked about the 4 wins at Shockfest, Cameron responded with:

“I am so honored that ‘Truth or Dare’ screened at my favorite LA horror film festival, Shockfest. To win Best Actor and Best Director in my directorial debut is more than I could have ever hoped. I’m so excited to see my fellow actors, Ryan Kiser and Devanny Pinn win awards for my film since they worked so hard and gave dynamic performances.”

The plot of the film revolves around 6 friends who find internet stardom when they make “truth or dare” videos online. It is all fun and games until their number one fan decides he wants to play. Nothing is what it seems, and everyone has something to hide…
